Proper Disposal of Waste

Proper disposal of waste: We can prevent exposure to infectious diseases of the stomach and intestine, which can spread through contaminated food, by ensuring the proper disposal of waste. The waste we generate everyday is the breeding ground for disease-causing microbes. The proper gathering and disposal of waste is, therefore, very important for preventing diseases like cholera and typhoid. Covered garbage cans should be provided at garbage-pick-up places in towns or cities. The collected garbage should be burnt or buried.

Various methods of proper disposal of waste: 

  • Landfills: Throwing daily waste in the landfils is the most popularly used method of waste disposal. This process of waste disposal focuses attention on burying the waste in the land.
  • Combustion:It is type of disposal method in which  the muncipal solid wastes are burned at high temperature. The advantage of this method is that it reduces the amount of solid waste by 20-30%. 
  • Recovery and recycling: During recovery useful discarded atom is processed to extract or recover materials. Recycling involves converting waste product into a new product.
  • Composting: It is an easy and natural bio-degradable process that takes organic wastes i.e. remains of plants, gardens and kitchen waste and turns into nutirent rich food for your plants.
